What's a suitable present for a one year anniversary?

We%26#039;re 17 years old, and met during summer when everyone was having parties celebrating the summer and end of GCSEs.

In about a month it%26#039;s going to be our year anniversary. But I have no idea what to get him...

My guy mates said flowers will make him feel like a girl (sorry if I%26#039;ve offended anyone, this is what I have been told by peers the same age and personality etc)

Chocolates are the same

A nice watch is waaay to expensive, specially since I%26#039;m skint coz i spent £162 on reading recently.

So what do I do?!

My budget is about £70 I can go a little over, under is also great :o)

thank you everyone for posting ideas!!!

What%26#039;s a suitable present for a one year anniversary?
Maybe actually buying him something is a bit too much, especially if you are short of money.

Why not pay for the two of you to go out somewhere? Also as a one year anniversary (for marriage anyway!!!) is %26quot;paper%26quot; buy something that has a ticket such as a trip to the theatre, theme park, concert etc etc.
Reply:a two week holiuday in bruges =))

My parents r renewing there vows and i need 2 know how 2 set up the theme and what kind of flowers 2 get 4 it?
What are the colors of the bridesmaids dresses? You can pull the main color from them and then add accents.

As for a theme...Why not go with the traditional gold 50th anniversary theme?

For my reception our %26quot;theme%26quot;, if you can call it that, is red and romance. I%26#039;m using candles and lots of rose petals.

I hope this helps!

As for the decorating, try to get a team of people and assign jobs!
Reply:Are you even supposed to be there? Just do it like you did the first time.

Just kidding. I would like to be there to help with the decorations but it just won%26#039;t work out So I will give you this, %26quot; They didn%26#039;t have an expensive wedding but the investment they made in each other over fifty years cannot be bought at any price%26quot;. %26quot;It is a Golden Anniversary of a Golden Marriage.%26quot;. Is there even a chance the j.p. is still around. You will find many volunteers at the senior center. Go there and sit for a cup of coffee and find out who is in the know. Many seniors even grow beautiful flowers that are not available from commercial growers. Don%26#039;t go nuts over this, just have fun with it and your helpers. It will be a Golden day.

What is the most romantic anniversary gift that I can give to my wife?

It is our 17th anniversary and I have done everything that I can think of over the last 16 years. Flowers, jewlery, trips, lingerie, fine dining, surprises, gifts, you name it. What will ring the bell romatically. We love our new home and enjoy celbrating here.

What is the most romantic anniversary gift that I can give to my wife?
This is romantic

This is another good idea

Reply:Hi John, Why don%26#039;t you buy her a star? Go to www.buyastar.net cost is $39.95 for the rights to name the star, you get a certificate, co-ordinates so you can look at it yourself etc
Reply:I would say to make her a photo album of the last 17 years together and to take some pictures and put it in the album to give to her. On the front of the album you put one of the nicest pictures of the two of you.
Reply:How about making a memory book. You can fill it with things that you guys have done together over the last 17 years for example put pictures or postcards of places you traveled, wedding pictures, ticket stubs, things you visited on your annniversary, etc.

Good luck and Hope you have a wonderful anniversary!!!
Reply:Have a anniversary party for your 17th year. By the way congratulation. Yes have a party and invite a few friends to celebrate it with you. Or you can renew your vows. Or you could let her choose what she wants to do. Hint around with her to see what she like to do. Then go from there.Get her a nice sweet little dog that she can baby.
Reply:UNIQUE gift for her

Reply:My sister took a lot of the pictures of each other and friends cutting them out and making a collage showing her and husbands life together. starting with pic of younger years and forming a circle, because you always return to the reasons you married
Reply:why don%26#039;t you cook something that she likes?
Reply:Best gift I ever got was a gift certificate to a full day of treatments at a spa. Your wife will come back home refreshed and relaxed and ready to THANK YOU for giving her such an un-selfish gift.
Reply:Congratulations on your upcoming Anniversary.

Perhaps you could send her out with friends to a day spa while you stayed at home to cook her favorite meal. Put a vase of fresh flowers and candles on the table so it would be more romantic.

Also you could write her a love letter or poem telling her how thankful you are for her, and how much she means to you.

My Uncle had me to make a video of he and my aunt using photo%26#039;s of them starting from their wedding day, including the birth of their children, and the two of them together through the years. I scanned the photo%26#039;s and used Movie Maker to add the pictures, I also used %26quot;their%26quot; song in the video. It was a huge hit with my Aunt, if you cant do that then maybe you could create a scrapbook for her with all the pictures and little captions about her, or your memory from that photo.

Goodluck, I hope your day is a good one :)
Reply:i don%26#039;t really have answer. i have read 12 answers to you.

i say do them all.

have a great time

happy anniversary and many more to you both
Reply:first of all congratulations!

A romantic gift that I%26#039;d like to get... would be something you make yourself. A list of things you love about her, about the two of you. A collage of cherished pictures in a new frame. A book filled with memories to pass down to family/friends. These types of gifts show appreciation of the love you have.

Hope this helps...
Reply:An oil portrait from a photo of the 2 of you can be a very special gift. Try: www.paintyourlife.com - they do beautiful paintings in very reasonable prices.

Good luck
Reply:Write her or find her a really romantic poem and get down on your knees and read it to her!! Maybe, a poem about how you guys met or how you fell so in love with her. Do it during a really romantic dinner with her..she will be thinking oh, a nice romantic dinner how nice...what?? what%26#039;s this?? a poem....my mind is totally blown...I%26#039;d never expect this one from you!!! LOL...Just a thought!
Reply:I think you should give her something little and personal, along with a regular gift. The regular gift could just be jewelry or flowers or something normal to anniversaries. But the little one should be an insider joke or a little detail that you remember about her. For example, I once had someone give me a Cat in the Hat kiddie pillow, because during one of our first phone conversations, I mentioned that Dr. Seuss was one of my favorite authors, it is he most romantic gift I ever got.
Reply:Hey John, what a sweetie you are for putting your wife on a pedestal. How refreshing! Congratulations ! Now it is time for you to use your imagination. Do you cook? Maybe an evening of romantic ambiance and food tasting from around the world that you have prepared. Dipping bite size food in a fondue is fun as well. Dipping fruit in chocolate is great too, blindfolded and feeding her. After awhile, smearing chocolate on each other, well you get the picture. And %26quot;special toys are always good. Have you keep memento%26#039;s that your wife has given you over the years? Make some sort of scrape book. Or maybe make a video of yourself talking about how you first meet, the most memorable time together, etc. I guess you have to think outside the bun.LOL.

I wish you many, many more wonderful years,

Beach themed wedding reception/anniversary party?

My husband and I eloped last June and were married on Cocoa Beach, FL. Our family was very excited for us but wanted to be able to attend a family gathering. So, for one-year anniversary, my dad is throwing us a party at a local banquet hall. I%26#039;ve sent out the invitations and found a cute centerpiece idea that I%26#039;d like to make:

http://www.crafts-for-all-seasons.com/se...

However, I hadn%26#039;t originally planned on having a beach theme. Our colors will be green and white, and I%26#039;m not sure how to incorporate this in our centerpieces. It seems to me that the obvious color choice for a beach wedding would be blue, but since the invitations have already been sent out (with green ribbon), I don%26#039;t know how I should merge the color with the beach theme.

Also, while the banquet hall has an outdoor bar that we will be using, the room itself isn%26#039;t very %26quot;beachy%26quot; and has silk flowers around the windows. How can I make everything fit together?

Beach themed wedding reception/anniversary party?
I think green is a beachy colour - why change it? Use palms for greenery around the place. It doesn%26#039;t have to be a %26#039;traditional%26#039; beach theme does it?! I think green would work wonderfully.
Reply:That room is pretty blue, so I think the best way to work with what you have to go use blue and white as your two colors, and add green accents here and there. You mentioned green on the invitation ribbons ... add green ribbon to your centerpieces (which are beautiful, by the way - I LOVE beach themes!). Just tie a ribbon around the top or bottom of the vase you%26#039;re using in the same green, and it will fit right in.

For our wedding, our main colors are a jewel-toned navy blue and cream, with accents of chocolate brown. I was dead set on having brown somewhere in the wedding because it%26#039;s one of my favorite colors, and I%26#039;ve found that adding that extra accent color really makes everything tie together nicely, as opposed to two colors, which can almost look TOO planned out.

I would use the centerpiece you just posted and add some votive or tealight candles around it to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. As far as adding other %26quot;beachy%26quot; decor items, is it in your budget to have palm tree replicas brought in? You can rent almost everything these days, including plants and trees. That would be really cute.

Just make sure that your blue and green tones match ... as in either soft or bold, not one or the other. An example would be sage green with sky blue.
Reply:Hi and congratulations on your marriage!

Although I like the centerpieces that you have chosen....they are cute, I think they will be dwarfed on the tables. By the way....the reception site looks beautiful! Very nice.

My suggestion would be to totally forgo the beach theme even though you were married on a beach. Just go with the elegance of the room. There are a number of things you can do......

(1) Get a large glass bowl like this:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/candlebowl...

Fill it with some green %26quot;vase gems%26quot; like these:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/glassvaseg...

Fill about 2/3 with water.....and then float some candles in it:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/floatcan.h...

Place it all on a large 12%26quot; round mirror tile. This looks so nice and elegant.

(2) I love this look:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/carcylvas1...

Get various sizes of glass pillars. Put it rose petals, flowers, etc. Then float a candle in them. Get ones that are of various heights - maybe 3 to a table. Again, place them on a mirror tile...and add some rose petals around it. Very nice.

(3) I don%26#039;t know if you are going for dark green or lighter, but I just love this centerpiece idea using fresh cut limes. You could always replace the pink flowers in the picture with some white ones if you wanted. Or...add in some pink! So cute for a summer reception.

http://www.favorideas.com/com_images/126...

Have fun and congrats!
Reply:The simple answer to add green would be to put green palm fronds underneath the center pieces. That would bring in your green and you already have your white. I would also sprinkle some of the shells on the fronds out side of the jar to tie them together. Also, if you really feel the need to add in the blue, try blue table clothes overlaying the white table clothes. The blue with the white will remind you of waves in the water. I can%26#039;t tell what color the flowers on the windows are, but you might find a overlay to match. Good luck and hope this helps!

It's our anniversary - am I expecting too much?

3 years today. I wrote my husband a very sweet card last night and put it by his ring and watch so he would get it on his way out to work....tonight we had planned for dinner and shopping for our gifts together. So far I have no card, no flowers sent to me at work, and I don%26#039;t think he has any surprise planned for later....don%26#039;t ask me how I can tell - I just can.

Should I stop expecting too much? I wanted some romance. Our previous anniversary I made all the plans. The first one he was very romantic. What gives???

It%26#039;s our anniversary - am I expecting too much?
With men you have to be VERY SPECIFIC! It took me a while to figure it out but I got it and it has made our relationship better. I would hint around about things all the time but I never got what I was hinting for. So one time we were watching tv and some guy gave his girlfriend flowers for no reason at all! So I told him that I would love it if he would do that for me and asked him if he would. He said yes but it will be a surprise and I would not be expecting it. It happened, he brought me a gorgeous bouquet of roses for no reason whatsoever! So unlike him and so so nice!
Reply:Since you planned it all last time, he may be expecting the same this time... if you want cards and flowers you have to let him know in advance, some people just don%26#039;t naturally think that way.
Reply:If you are expecting something, tell him to get it. Don%26#039;t just leave it to him to read your mind.

I was coming home from a long business trip, and I asked my husband to bring flowers. There%26#039;s no shame in that.

If you want it, then stop holding a grudge and tell him!
Reply:I feel you....my husband lets me do ALL the planning and it really bothers me sometimes. I read your details to the question and immediately pictured my husband doing the exact same thing your husband is doing. Men are not particularly great at planning these romantic get-aways or surprises. They definitely don%26#039;t think like us!

You should NOT stop expecting what you deserve. Talk this over with your husband....tell him what you need emotionally and what you need from him all around. Let him know how it makes you feel....I know I know....then it%26#039;s like you told him to step up and do things for you that he might not have originally done....it%26#039;s a catch 22. We want it and should get it and by telling the man, it%26#039;s like we feel they didn%26#039;t want to do it in the first place and are just doing it because we said to....you following me?

Oh dear.....I can%26#039;t tell you what to do for this situation....but I will tell you that it can easily cause problems....learn how to fix them together so that you both turn out happy in the end. GOOD LUCK!!
Reply:too soon to tell. wait you might be surprised later.
Reply:Let me tell you something its hard to make dude do things.........even if you give them hint after hint!!!haha...sometimes you just have to tell them flat out
Reply:Dinner and shopping for gifts sounds like you have it all planned again. Or he will at least see it this way. My 5th anv. I had dinner with my husband and my father in law (we weren%26#039;t able to drive due to injuries.) That was it. I didn%26#039;t complain I just enjoyed it for what it is. Sometimes you have to take things for what they are.
Reply:Welcome to the honey moon is over honey. And no, you aren%26#039;t expecting too much, something...even an acknowledgement at this point would be nice...but nothing? That%26#039;s just crummy. So wait until bed time, give him his gift and his card and he%26#039;s going to feel like a total butthead. Guaranteed never to forget or put it off again. And here%26#039;s why: Women, never forget anything. You have an entire year to remind him how he forgot the anniversary. Sure you may suffer this year, but the ones after that? Not a chance. He%26#039;s not going to want to end up in the dog house.
Reply:sweets, its number 3! not 30! Guys don%26#039;t get all mushy so if you are happily married, have a nice husband who helps you out or at least does the icky things around the house(killing spiders comes to mind) and makes you happy don%26#039;t get caught up in some %26quot;ideal%26quot; of romance...enjoy what you got and pick out something you like for the gift...
Reply:Well, since you had made all the plans for the first two anniversaries, why do you think he would think that it was his turn? I think you need to be very specific in the future about what your expectations of your anniversary is. You might think that is a turn off, but if nothing at all happens, that is a disappointment, telling him what you want and having him do it is a nice evening.
Reply:Well, if he doesn%26#039;t come through this time, don%26#039;t make nothing of it, just don%26#039;t do anything for the next one.
Reply:You can%26#039;t expect guys to act like women. They are very different. With them you need to say, %26quot;I need you to be romantic every anniversary%26quot;. If you don%26#039;t say it, he%26#039;ll think that it%26#039;s not needed.
Reply:Ask him....he%26#039;s the only one to know why you didn%26#039;t at least get a card.
Reply:Guys are terrible about remembering aniverseries! (I think it%26#039;s genetic; the %26quot;anniversary-forgetting%26quot; gene is on the Y chromasome, right next to the %26quot;won%26#039;t stop and ask directions%26quot; gene).

I hope that he is pretending he has forgetten, and has a big surprise planned for you!
Reply:stop behaving like a child and ASK him.
Reply:My bf needs subtlety like a brick through a window. You%26#039;ve agree to go shopping together for gifts so as far as your hubby is concerned that%26#039;s all you wanted.

I think it%26#039;s a bit late for this year - but just mention that it would be nice to received flowers at work for a special occasion. (if you just say %26quot;flowers at work%26quot; you%26#039;ll end up with them next week).

Suggestions for 25th Anniversary decorations?

I was wondering other than balloons what is some ideas for a 25th surprise wedding anniversary?

We were also thinking about having table center pieces, but don%26#039;t think candles would be a good idea cause it will be outside in June (afraid they will keep blowing out)... flowers could be good but expensive.

Any ideas would be greatly appricated!!!

THANKS AHEAD OF TIME :oD

Suggestions for 25th Anniversary decorations?
Why not try an Decoration / Gift.

I gave this to my mom and she has loved it for years. It would be perfect for an outside party in June. And they are great gifts. http://www.chimesofyourlife.com/

This company personalized wind chimes, you can say

anything, show your love, blessings, whatever. They

even have an inscription page if you cant think of

anything to say. In the end they keep the engraved wind chime

Great selection of chime colors, sizes, and different wind sail shapes.
Reply:anything silver..that%26#039;s a traditional color for especially the 25th anniversary. silver balloons can be find at a party city store or even a dollar store if your looking to buy inexpensive decor. White is also nice with silver. If you aren%26#039;t traditional then you can get any colors such as red, yellow/white. Good Luck
Reply:Anything silver..Go to your local party store you%26#039;ll find tons of stuff. You can even have Hersey kisses on tables or as favors.. Just have fun and don%26#039;t stress out.
Reply:Have a look at this web site, might give you some ideas for do it yourself candle holders or there maybe something similar but cheaper you can find in a liquidation center??

http://www.westportstyle.com/outdoor-can...
Reply:Silver. 25th anniversary is called a %26quot;silver%26quot; anniversary, as opposed to the 50th, being gold. Decorate with silver stuff. If the party is outdoors, don%26#039;t have smelly stuff like candles because it will attract bugs.

That%26#039;s all I can think of now. Hopefully, it%26#039;s a good starting point for you!
Reply:go to party city, they have a whole section for this. For the center pieces you could but nice frames and put picutres of the could on each table, arrange the tables so the pictures tell the story of the evolution of the couple.

you should trust your own instincts, considereing that you are married you should have a fair idea of what she likes and dislikes.

Then think how chuffed you will be when she loves her flowers and deep down you picked them yourself.

go for it!
Reply:awwww thats so sweet! why are all the good blokes taken :(
Reply:Your links don%26#039;t work
Reply:Flowers in water rather than a bouquet - in water they won%26#039;t die at work during the day and she%26#039;ll love the surprise and should be able to carry them home. Good for you.
Reply:A pretty bouquet in a vase sounds very sweet. She will be able to keep the vase too. :-)
Reply:Sorry, I coundn%26#039;t see them but, I prefer a bouquete of various colored roses. (Pink, Red, White and Yellow.) But, I would rather would like to see a bunch of flowers tied up on a bed full of red rose petals when you come back from work. Then you all wrap it up with a bubble bath with floating flowers!
Reply:For some reason I always thought big stem roses in a box with a ribbon were soooo nice. No one ever sent me those so I%26#039;m still waiting. You wouldn%26#039;t want to send a box of roses to a stranger since your%26#039;e making an order anyways? LOL

What are your wifes favourite flowers? Colour?

Happy anniversary

I don%26#039;t like something very grandiose, but it doesn%26#039;t really matter %26#039;cause it%26#039;s not for me , hehe :)

Keep on fun kin! :)

I think the one called grandeur is really nice! go for that one! but the white flowers are really nice i think they are called eden something (but I just love white flowers, it depends what your wife likes)

Reply:I%26#039;m not a bird but I will tell you. You are not sending your wife flowers. You are making the OTHER girls in the office think %26quot;I wish I had a boyfriend / husband like him. You are so Lucky%26quot; That%26#039;s what makes the ladies feel special. The more envious the other ladies are. Go for it matey. Have a great evening.

xxB
Reply:u r really romantic um CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Happy Anniversary
Reply:Bouquests are very nice but sometimes overkill. A woman sometimes would prefer that one perfect bloom in an unusual color or an arrangement of lillies and nasturtiums and such. I would prefer to come home to a clean house with a dinner hot and waiting on me. Maybe champagne and strawberries for dessert. And a trail of rose petals leading down the hall to the bedroom ending in a pile of rose petals strewn across the sheets. Or perhaps run me a bath with my favorite scented bubbles, as hot as I can stand it with a glass of merlot chilling on one side and soft music playing in the background and to have my husband bathe me with a loufah sponge or washing my hair with sweet smelling shampoo.
Reply:I always think unwrapped flowers in a box are the most sexy...
Reply:that%26#039;s so sweet :]

a vase for work, she%26#039;ll love that and can keep it on her desk. i wish my man does that one day, lol
Reply:Buy her a tree and go plant it somewhere special
Reply:flowers are alright, but earings or necklace with diamond in it

much more classy!!
Reply:My personal opinion is go bold. They will arrive at work, so you%26#039;ll want the arrangement to turn heads as they make their way to your wife. Nothing better than gladioli in a suitable vase. They are big, tall, make a statement and can%26#039;t be ignored. A single color or a mix will work.
Reply:The majority of women prefer roses, however this is a very personal choice, dependent upon your wives taste. If you are really unaware of her favorite flower send her two dozen roses one in red and one dozen in various shades. this makes a very beautiful and aromatic bouquet. Yes, definitely send with a vase included. Good for you for being so thoughtful, this is really going to make her day. Congratulations on your special day and many more to follow! God bless you
Reply:To be honest, I%26#039;d prefer not to have the case. I think just a really nice big bunch of flowers is good enough and then she can put it in a vase when she gets home. Everyone%26#039;s different though, so go for what you think she%26#039;d like best.
